TREATMENT METHODS
Composite Filling
It is known as “White or Aesthetic Filling” in its simple form. Its technical name is “KompozitResin(CompositeResin)”. Most of the ones used today contain “light-sensitive” substances and for this reason, it is hardened by using special light. The composite fillings hardened with light are made in a single session. As it has wide color options, aesthetically perfect results can be obtained.
Amalgam Filling (Metal Filling)
It is formed with the mixture of the silver, tin and copper alloy with mercury in the rate of 45-50%. After the cavity cleaned from the decay is filled with the amalgam filling material, it is recommended that this region should not be given for two hours and hard things should not be chewed for 24 hours. After 24 hours, the thoroughly hardened filling is polished.
ISSUES TO BE CONSIDERED AFTER THE FILLING
We generally anaesthetize the tooth while making filling. For this reason, till the anesthesia effect stops, you should pay attention not to bite tongue, lip and cheek which gets numb with the tooth. Especially, pay attention to this very much in children.
After the operation, you can eat meals and drink something. However, as in your natural teeth, do not chew very hard foods at the filling side. (ice, hard candy, carrot etc..)
After the filling, the cold hot sensitivity is very natural for a couple of weeks. The deeper the decay and filling made, the longer the sensitivity duration. The sensitivity decreases on its own every passing day due to the medicines placed under the filling. If there are non-decreasing sensitivity, night pains in the tooth, pains starting on their own, height when you bite and imbalance in chewing at the end of 3 weeks, please call us and take a control appointment.
There can be discomfort at the region where we apply anesthesia or at the damaged gingival field during the filling for a couple of days, this will also recover on its own. The gargling with salty water accelerates your recovery and you can use it.
Our tongue is very sensitive and feels the tiniest difference; it is required that a couple of days should pass for it to get used to the shape and surface structure of the new filling. In the filling realized, the remaining part of the tooth is very important. If more than 50% of the tooth is filled, the remaining healthy tooth structure is under big loads and its fracture in due time is unavoidable. If the filling realized is 60% or more of the tooth, it is required that the tooth should be veneered after the filling. The porcelain veneer keeps the tooth together and makes it durable. By this way, the tooth remains in the mouth for long years without problems and in a durable way.
